Another song inspired by a memorable quote by Hyrum.
Last night’s show was fun. Ellis and I are now officially (spontaneously) dubbed “The Adventures of Mrs. Packman”, for better or for worse.
For those who remember my cover of “Come Back” I mentioned Clover, a local band me and my brothers listened to way back in Junior High. The lead singer, Jamen Brooks, was at the show last night and it was great being able to meet the man behind one of the most influential bands of my adolescent period. He mentioned he was still jamming and pointed me to his Myspace page. The four songs he has there are extraordinary. His albums are available on iTunes, Amazon, and eMusic. After a morning listening to his two albums I can’t recommend them enough to folks who (like me) thrive on experimental, mellow, acoustic sonorities of the vein of Radiohead.
Way back in ‘93 there was a local band in Utah lead by the talented Jamen Brooks. All the locals loved them and had high hopes that they would bust out of the local scene to some bigger venues and audiences. Well, instead they busted up and left us all mourning. But their song “Come Back to Me” remains one of my all time favorite love songs. Here’s my paltry version.
Although I have some Irish in me, I don’t drink whiskey and I can’t sing with the appropriate accent. But here’s my take on this classic.
