Tami (my sister) made an interesting observation here . A very worthy discussion. Several (many thousands) have also observed similarities between myself and another pretty well-known pop icon. I think you’ll agree, the resemblance is uncanny.
Anyone familiar with the song Oh Mandy by the Spinto Band (I blogged about it and you can hear it here) will understand the level elation I experienced when my wife surprised me with my very own backyard gnome for my birthday! 
I’m finally done with my masters. You may call me Master Andy or Master Andrew. I go by both now. So in commemoration of me starting the weekly song sketches again, here’s a song I just wrote called “Don’t Say”.
I forgot to add this disclaimer to the site. My dedication to my writing and recording a song a week has slackened for a very specific reason: I’m back in school. Fortunately I’ll be finishing my master’s in IS in a couple months and as soon as that happens I will renew my song-a-week schedule. Until then it will most likely be “A Song if I Happen to Have All My Work Done and I’m Not In the Mood to Play Team Fortress II”.
After hearing this song by Les Savy fav, if I ever am in a band again, there is no question about it - we will be called the Pots and Pans!
Ander’s baby blessing was last Sunday. Here are some cute pictures from the occasion. That outfit was made by his Grandma Chris. (I keep asking her to make me one too. Maybe when she’s less busy)
I’ve had a few riffs floating around in my head for a few years now and decided now would be a good time to actually lay them down in some semblance of a song. I was pretty pleased with the sketch that resulted. I haven’t yet attempted words and vocals, so for now all it is is a numbered, instrumental for four guitars (and baby fussing in it’s sleep).
Well, looking at our calendar we realized we wouldn’t have any time to record our song before next week if we didn’t do it tonight. And I’ll be darned if I don’t meet my goal of a song a week, so that’s what we did. This was a quick recording so it’s rough, but I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. I love my wife’s simple voice. So perfect for a folk hymn like this one.
Of note with this version of the classic Christmas song: since we adapted the words to the melody of Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah, the five original versus didn’t quite work. I did some searching online and found a really old version of the poem that had a 6th verse, so we threw it in.
